There are three reasons to avoid nuclear, and if we can do CANDUs cheaper/faster that could be a real viable alternative to methane while we wait for renewables to finish scaling.

The long term storage of nuclear waste is nothing compared to the damage of carbon. I have zero doubt that our descendants would agree.

The danger of runaway failure is negated by CANDU reactors using fuel that's not concentrated enough. As far as I know that's unique.

The only issue left is the speed and cost of construction. As long as it's taking investment from fossil fuels and not sustainable energy, this could be amazing.
